There are indications that outspoken catholic church priest and head of the adoration ministry in Enugu, rev.Fr. Ejike Mbaka, may be transferred out of his station, Christ the King parish.

it is believed that the Catholic church is increasingly becoming uncomfortable with priest's overt and often controversial political commentary, as some catholic leaders in the country have frowned at his open political partisanship.

Last year, Fr. Mbaka in a highly controversial sermon, predicted the loss of former President Goodluck Jonathan and openly declared his support for his rival, Mohammadu Buhari. During his New Year sermon, he predicted an attempt to the life of president Buhari.

The Sun newspaper reports that the diocese of Enugu is planning to make Fr. Mbaka's transfer look like a routine execise. The Director of Social Communications of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. joseph Offor, noted the diocese embarks on postings of priests every six year

"Yes, the posting will be announced this week. The bishop decides who should be posted where; it has nothing to do with a particular individual. it is a routine practice which is done every six years."

But followers of Fr. mbaka doubt that he will be transferred. "for me, i think it's just a rumour which is making the rounds. And it is my view that the bishop has the right to transfer any priest.

However, it won't be right if such a transfer is done with malice or as a punitive measure for holding an opinion on an issue," one follower is reported to have said.
