POLITICS: President Jonathan Critics Are Myopic -- Okeke

A chieftain of the PDP, in Anambra State, Chief Ugochukwu Okeke, has lambasted those in the habit of criticising President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration without regard to his numerous achievements. Okeke said those who are accusing Jonathan of being sluggish in responding to sensitive national issues are myopic.

Okeke further stated that since Jonathan was elected as president of Nigeria, he had displayed humility and selfless-interest in addressing issues affecting the nation, a development which he said has distinguished Jonathan as a unique leader the nation has ever produced.

He listed some of President Jonathan’s achievement to include the recent reforms in the power sector, the Electoral Act, deregulation of the down steam oil sector, the convening of the proposed National Conference, among others

Okeke who was the PDP governorship flag bearer in the November 16, 2013 Anambra State election, maintained that those criticising Jonathan were merely doing so on sentiment and selfish interests.

Frowning at the old order before Jonathan’s tenure, where politicians and successive leadership in the country had played along the lines of ethnic divide and sectional interests, which incidentally had weighed down effective national development.
